Social MEdia Experience
Currently, I am the Digital Engagement and Communications Assocaite for Alumni and Career Services at MCPHS University. My daily duties include running all of the social channels, as well as other digital communications, for the university's Career Center and Alumni Services.
For years, I have aspired to have a career in social media management and strategy. Having the opportunity to own various accounts and implement new strategies in my current role is incredibly rewarding. It took me many internship hours, as well as months of professional experience, to get to where I am today.
Before my professional career, I gained experience with social media through my internships at MWPHE Inc. and Agency 451, formerly 451 marketing. During my time at 451 marketing, I helped to create content for various clients such as Ericsson, Astra Zeneca, and Digium. Along with content creation, I also analyzed different ways to improve clients’ current social presence.
During my time with MWPHE Inc. , I was responsible for creating social media buzz and campaigns to promote the organizations annual conference. The Massachusetts Women in Public Higher Education conference is about teaching female professors, as well as female state university students, to be their best self.
As a part of my interview for this position, I created the “Be a Better You” campaign. This campaign expressed the theme of the conference, as well as one of the messages MWPHE is all about. A portion of this campaign that really took off was “Mass Women Wednesday”. Mass Women Wednesday featured a new professor each week and became a great way for members to learn more about each other.
My first professional position, I was an Account Manager at Smartfish Group in Marlborough MA. I created content for our two of our clients, Lucid Absinthe and Sinfire Whisky. I shot all of the images with my Nikon and GoPro, or created them in Photoshop. I continuously thought of ways to learn more about the product, as well as voice of the brand. I believe by doing this and staying up to date on trends, the next rounds of content I can make even better than the previous one.
This past fall, I was captain of a Juvenile Diabetes One Walk Team called the "Diabetes Bros". I created the team to support my brother Patrick, who was diagnosed at age 3, and his best friend Bill. To launch our fundraising efforts, I turned to the power of social media. I ran the Diabetes Bros Facebook page and Instagram, which has a 158 followers collected organically. With posts that tailored to our audience and our supportive team members who shared our content, we tripled our original fundraising goal of $1,000. In total, we raised $3,500 and had a walk team of 50+ people. Without our social media marketing as a team, we do not know if we would have even come close to raising a sum that large.
I also run an Instagram account called Eggcellent Breakfasts, which showcases different brunch spots in Boston,MA. You can find more information about this in my Eggcellent Breakfast tab. I used this account as a way to continue to sharpen and keep up with my social media marketing skills. Overtime, it has evolved into a fun hobby, as well as a blog.
